Meet My Pets!
My pretty girl, Mellow!
Tom Cat, Our Tried and True Alley Cat
Hi Girly Pops!
This week, I wanted to take a short minute to introduce my babies, and by babies, of course I mean my pets (because as for the foreseeable future these are my true and only babies). It would be unfair to introduce the world to me, without mentioning the mouths I feed daily.
I currently have two cats and a fish. Peak the cutie photos I have included of them! (It’s really hard to photograph a fish, but just imagine a super pretty blue and red betta fish- oops)
Mellow is my perfect, sweet, menace of a child. A mix of Torti and calico, she genuinely captured my heart from the moment I saw her. Left a stray, my college roommates and I took her in; four 20-year-olds living in an apartment truly had to be interesting house to be brought into in her kitten state. From the day she was found, she adored outside. Mellow is a lot quieter than Tom, but don’t let her fool you, because her vocal cords can screech when she wants outside. With the most personality I have ever seen on a cat, she hates not getting her way; like all calicos, she has mood swings, but she is the sweetest cat when comfortable. She truly is my pride and joy though- I try not to play favorites but it’s hard when you have the sweetest cuddle buddy every night!
Tom is our gray tuxedo cat- he’s 1000% boy. Super playful, super talkative, and super sweet are all great descriptions for Tom, especially the super talkative part. Tom began showing up to our house, and we began to feed him, as it was clear he was a stray. Slowly but surely, he would start to come up to us, let us pet him, and eventually, he started to come into the house and became a part of the family. Tom came to us shortly after my cat Jingles passed away- having the same in personalities and looks, I truly believed God sent us Tom to try to fill up our then empty heart. For that, I am so joyful.
Lastly, I have a betta fish who I conveniently named Fish. Fish came into my possession in an interesting way. My college bestie originally had him, but after some time, Fish was evicted from his apartment. Eventually Fish came into my care, and now I have had him for almost a year. His ‘adoption’ story always gives me a good laugh as I unintentionally became a fish mom. When I first got fish, his tank was in critical condition (not fault of my friend- he was a great fish dad). It was a long process getting Fish healthy as he was suffering from fin rot and everything else that comes along with neglect. I actually recently upgraded him from a 5 gallon to a 10-gallon tank, and wow am I amazed in not only his progress, but my progress of being a fish parent. I have learned so much throughout this process- like the fact that a majority of fish are neglected- and I truly have seen Fish blossom, becoming more and more comfortable in his new tank. His colors are shining brighter than I ever have seen- leaving me to call him spiderfish as his vibrant shades of red and blue show out for the first time.
I understand this post may be more boring and mundane, but that’s what a majority of what life is, but I believe our society could use a little more mundane, a little more boredom, and a lot more creativity. My pets are a part of my daily life, bringing in a routine of happiness, so who am I if I do not even mention them? I am grateful to have the resources to care for all of my babies the way they deserve. I truly do thank God for my pets every day!
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed the introduction to my pets! Peace out Girl scouts. (and boy scouts, or eagle scouts even)
